Call 9-1-1 for All Emergencies
In the event of a police, fire, or medical emergency, call 9-1-1. For cell phone users, call (408) 277-8911. (If you live in an unincorporated area, you will be re-routed to the County of Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.)
Call 3-1-1 for Non-Emergency Calls
The non-emergency telephone number for the San José Police Department is 3-1-1 or (408) 277-8900. This is the number to call to report non-emergency police situations, such as noise disturbances, parking complaints, lost and found property and crimes NOT in progress. The San José Police Department encourages residents to use their own judgment when determining the nature of their situation. When in doubt, however, the Police Department recommends that residents call 9-1-1.
Call 2-1-1 for Personal Help

Crime Stoppers operates a 24/7 service for citizens to report crimes or criminal activity anonymously. Tips resulting in an arrest entitle the caller to a cash reward up to $1,000.
